Shepherding Companies into New Channels of Distribution

THE CHALLENGE

Blue Bottle Coffee, one of the pioneers in the “Third Wave” artisanal coffee movement, sought to translate its coffee shop hit, New Orleans iced coffee, into a ready-to-drink version that could be sold on retail store shelves.

OUR WORK

We explored many different ways to execute on this opportunity and decided that the best way to match the fresh, in-store experience was to partner with local dairies. We developed a viable, deliciously representative production process that utilized the company’s signature cold-brewing method.

THE RESULT

Blue Bottle New Orleans Iced Coffee was launched with much fanfare at the 2014 Natural Products Expo. It hit Whole Foods Market shelves across Northern California as well as Blue Bottle Café locations in April 2014.
