Elevating Commodities to Value-Added, High-Margin Successes

THE CHALLENGE

We have been Diamond Foods’ creative, new product, and R&D partner for over 15 years. The company we started working with was a commodity walnut co-op selling culinary nuts.

OUR WORK

We identified an opportunity to create a line of snack nuts to take advantage of consumers’ increasing reliance on substantial snacks. We created the first vacuum-roasted, glazed walnut using a patent-protected process. We also created for them the first dry roasted almond and their signature line of Cocoa Roast Almonds.

THE RESULT

Our creative and product development work allowed Diamond to evolve into a broad, value-added snack company. They created the Emerald brand to support these new lines of innovative, value-added products.
