Creating a New-to-the-World Product

THE CHALLENGE

Basic American Foods (BAF) is a respected supplier of dehydrated bean and potato products in the foodservice channel. They approached us to help them create, develop and launch their own branded line of contemporary, vegetable/legume retail meal kits.

OUR WORK

We helped BAF identify flavor profiles and ingredients that resonated with a key health-conscious consumer. We then named the brand Modern Table, based on their company strategy. We formulated the meal kits and validated the products with consumers in-home using our Integrated Consumer Insights (ICI) panels. Finally, we supported the commercialization of the final four varieties.

THE RESULT

The Modern Table line launched at the 2014 Natural Products Expo West and gained distribution in Whole Foods Market and Target.
