INNOVATING WITHIN AN EXISTING, CROWDED CATEGORY
We have been Dole Fresh Vegetable’s creative and R&D partner for many years. They rely on us to keep them current on food trends, and proactively present new concepts that are appropriate for their business.
When chopped salads began trending in restaurants across the U.S. in 2012, we identified it as a new product opportunity. We outlined the concept, formulated the product line, tested each variety with our Integrated Consumer Insights (ICI) panels, then transitioned the information to Dole for commercialization.
The Dole Chopped! product line launched in 2013. Based on its market success, the product was integrated into Dole’s permanent portfolio. In 2016, Dole Chopped Salads were named one of the 11 food and beverage winners of Nielsen’s U.S. 2016 Breakthrough Innovation.
