Innovating within a Sleepy Category
Together with Quaker, we identified an opportunity to launch a premium, adult hot cereal that offered the convenience of on-the-go portability.
We partnered with Quaker to refine the concept and varieties, including a multigrain base blend that moved the company beyond oats. We then used iterative focus groups—in which the products were revised between sessions—for the ultimate in speedy development. Once the formula was perfected, we oversaw initial plant trials.
The Real Medleys product line launched in 2012, moving Quaker from a simple oat company to much more. Quaker Real Medleys won “Product of the Year” within the entire PepsiCo organization that year. Since our work on the original concept, Quaker has extended Real Medleys into multiple categories.
